'Racing' Trans Oceanic to Cape Town - End of Season Update - Opportunities in 2025/2026

Granted it is not as exciting as tracking the flying machines on the Vendee Globe Race, but you can watch the progress (at a relative snail’s pace) of Vinson of Antarctica and the Amundsen match racing across the South Atlantic, on to Cape Town. It must be pointed out that after Vinson’s RYA Ocean Yacht Master theory course in Stanley followed by their 10 day cruise of the Falklands, they were behind at the start, as Amundsen’s programme of the Ocean Theory course did not have the cruise tacked on so they crossed the start line five days ahead. Note that the RYA students (mature) are navigating to Tristan da Cunha and then on to Cape Town only on celestial – the GPS has been blacked out. This is the real deal.

The pair of our vessels will be arriving by the end of April in Cape Town and then we have two months of down time which is actually up time for our annual service. I fly down this week to get our ducks in a row and prep the work programme, at Manuel’s boatyard in the Waterfront.
