PELAGIC AUSTRALIS HAMBLE TO TROMSO - 20 JUNE 2004
TO 15 JULY 2004
|

|
This cruise, which totals just less
than a month but
is possible to do in increments of approximately a week at a time , leaves Hamble on 20th June and
aims to get North to the inner Hebredies as fast as possible via the
Irish Sea. The first planned port of call is the Island of Islay
followed by Jura to Oban with calls at distilleries on the way.
Time and weather permitting this leg offers the opportunity to visit
the whirlpool of the Gulf of Correyvreckan and climb the Paps of Jura. The
second week offers a more leisurely progress through the Western Isles
from Oban to Ullapool with, depending on the weather, the following
possibilities, Iona, Fingals Cave, climbing on the Cullins of Skye and
the isolated anchorages and wildlife of the Outer Hebredies. The
third week sees a trip from Ullapool to the Lofoten Islands possibly
via Trondheim . The final 5 days will be spent in the Lofoten Islands
before finishing in Tromso 15 July. |
To find out more
about the destinations we recommend the Lonely Planet guide to Scotland's
Highlands and Islands and "Raw Spirit" ISBN 1 8441
3195 5 written by Ian Banks which covers some of the distilleries
which can be visited on this trip as well as a lot of things you
didn't know about whisky and the people who create and drink
it. To make a booking
