Peninsula Valdez and Patagonian Coast

Whale Watching

This two week wildlife cruise includes Peninsula Valdez (famous for its breeding ground of the Right Whales) and the rugged coast of Patagonia down to Cabo dos Bahias. We can accommodate up to ten guests on Pelagic Australis or five guests on Pelagic.

Crew members would fly into Trelew from Buenos Aires. We would meet the group there and then drive together to Rawson, a small fishing port on the coast to join the vessel.

We envisage five to six days in the Valdez area whale watching and also visiting small bays with many colonies of elephant seal and Magellenic penguin. We would then sail southwest down the deserted coast of Patagonia spending time in other anchorages well known for the wildlife typical to this unique environment.

Returning to Rawson with days to spare we have the option of spending the night in a local estancia (cattle ranch) with horseriding and an asado (BBQ) the next day.

All sailing would be during the day with the evenings spent in well protected anchorages. Most of what is interesting on the Patagonian coast is ashore and our emphasis would be on spending more time in fewer places to concentrate on the wildlife and photography.

Available Dates

September to November. Scheduling upon application.

Travel Arrangements

Trelew is serviced by several flights per day from Buenos Aires. We recommend you spend at least one night in BA before catching the connection to Trelew. Check with your Argentine Consul for visa requirements. We strongly recommend that international return flights are fully flexible to allow for missed connections due to bad weather.
